I’m Yijiao Liu. I come from Changchun, Jilin Province, China. I received my Ph.D. degree of Economics from Stony Brook University (2019).
I am currently working at Nathan Associates, Arlington, VA.
During my Ph.D., I studied how HUKOU — a Chinese “Internal Passport System” — impacts migration inflows and urbanization in China. I developed a novel spatial dataset for a consistent record of population and urban hierarchy of the most updated Chinese Census.
My research interests inlude Urban Economics and general Applied Economics. Besides, I am also interested in Data Science and Machine Learning.
